August 2008, Matt Cutts excitedly announced that a new Google Search Engine under development called Google Caffeine. He says that this is a new Google indexing system that required a team of architects to recode how the engine search works. SEO experts scratched their heads for a second while watching the interview (see below) and then scurried over to the Caffeine Sandbox (beta test site) to try the new Google engine search features.

The changes were not as apparent as I would have expected to see, though as Matt Cutt’s Q & A page explains,”even power users won’t notice much of a difference at all. This update is primarily under the hood: we’re rewriting the foundation of some of our infrastructure.”,  therefore it is agreed that there was not much to see on the surface. Every once in a while, I would spot a difference in a Google search engine position or two. The Caffeine Sandbox was available until after Google started testing live. I would like to note that I did notices the changes in the SERPS and this is what prompted my return to the test site. It was gone; just the message you see in the image below. I would have hoped they could have kept the Caffeine Sandbox active so that we could study the new architecture a bit longer.

Regardless, it is 6 months later and we are still waiting for the Google Caffeine Launch. I have been telling students and friends to expect Caffeine to launch after the holidays. This was validated when I placed a Google engine search for Caffeine and saw Matt Cutts new blog post, “Expect Caffeine After The Holidays“, in the 9th position on the first page. Guess I do know a little about how the search engine business works -eh? LOL

The following is what I have been noticing over the past few months. Google Caffeine may or may not have direct influence on these Google SEO changes, but after using similar strategies over the past 2 years and then all of the sudden not seeing Google search engine results as expeditiously as expected, I would have to say that these are direct results of Google Caffeine OR what occurs during live tests of the new algorithm. I am just grateful – as are most SEO experts – that the changes did not occur during the holidays. One year, Google did make code changes during the holiday season (I think this was two years ago; might have been three years ago). IT WAS TORTURE working on a rather large ASP website project at that time and clients having fits when seeing the page ranks changing on the Google toolbar. Little did they know, I was having fits as well because I was detecting inconsistencies in the SERPS and working double time to adjust metas and launch static pages. Keep in mind that one of the sites had many sets of dynamic metas to adjust for about 20k pages. This included changing the follow attributes until I noticed that the Googlebot was ignoring my desired crawl times. One of the changes of that Google update. The point is that we had to become psychics and work simultaneously in order to increase or maintain rankings DURING A HOLIDAY SEASON – this really ticked me off, so many thanks to Google for not doing the same this year. Meanwhile, wouldn’t it be funny if the Google Caffeine changes are so subtle that they launched it without telling us and will just announce in the 2010 New Year?

I will have to post a “stick foot in mouth” blog in that case – LOL – .  One never knows what to expect from this company!!!

What should we expect when Caffeine launches?

Caffeine will deliver Google search results faster and better.
- I personally did not see any major SERP changes aside of when logged into Google Accounts.
- The Caffeine indexing system was a bit more refined especially with the PPC & PPC rotations.

Parameter Control enables us to define which duplicate content the Googlebot should ignore.
- Click the Site Configuration tab in your Google Webmaster Tools.
- See the Settings and Parameter Handling – use it.
- This feature will instruct Google to read the duplicate content pages as ONE resource.

I will add more information as I determine Google Engine Search changes. Lets keep an eye out for when Caffeine launches and post comparison notes in the comments section of this page.

Finding the “best” work at home business is quite a challenge; especially when new to the Internet and when wondering which are legitimate work at home options. There is quite a difference in the two business modules. One involves either freelancing, consulting or having a job that you can work from home. The other includes franchising, pursuing a business idea or joining a direct sales company. Twitter has really stepped it up a notch over the past few months.

It is awesome to have the Retweet (RT) link back again. This had been disabled for over a year and forced us to manually RT @ users opposed to clicking a link and moving forward with communications. Some might not think this is a huge deal, but those who gravitated to Twitter applications like Tweet Deck know what I am referring to here. Internet users and social media marketers prefer not to have additional steps in their usage. Having the ability to click Retweet is one of those little things we like to use.

Twitter Trends is connecting both social and marketing Tweeple. It is such a user friendly features that helps us gain additional followers and exposure where a social user may not have connected with others at that interest level because they conditioned to connecting with exciting friends and not the fact that Twitter is a social networking site.

Marketing your business online in 2010 … it is going to be a lot of fun!!!

As most of you know, I am more on the shy side – “a behind the scenes type of gal” – therefore live broadcasts and video marketing was not as much of a priority in the past. After some time, I had set a plan on making video trainings and marketing to begin in 2010. This was with purpose of not featuring any other company nor service but my own when I came out on video. Hope those business owners understand this motivation. I have been developing online for 10 years now. It just makes more sense to me.

It means that I am concerned about our “mindset” and whether we are developing our dreams and success, or if self defeating thoughts and actions are holding us back from the blessings God bestows. From habits, focus and guidance – to – appreciation, unconditional love and gratitude – to peace, prosperity and abundance. Where are you in your dreams? Are you developing? Are you obtaining the success that you deserve? What do you believe in? Are you manifesting to others?

ARE YOU REALLY A TEACHABLE / COACHABLE PERSON?

I have read, been asked and pondered over those words for years. I used to think that it was the most absurd question on my interview sheet. I thought that I should not have to ask people this because I BELIEVED in constantly educating myself and helping others. Meanwhile, it was quite a process for me to get there and I am still “learning everyday”. Here I am, years later, understanding that it is one of the most important concepts for happiness and success in this life. We can sugar coat it with “are you willing to do what it takes?”, “are you committed?”, “are you willing to give unselfishly as God has commanded you to do?”, “do you want to be happy”, “do you want to obtain the abundance that you deserve” … TEACHABLE / COACHABLE … Is this you? If you say that you are this type of person, are REALLY you moved to learn, share and love unconditionally? This is deep and becomes not what you believe, but a way of life.

It is not always easy. It is not always hard. It is “what it is” … Do your best!

Google Rankings & The Keywords Meta Tag

I have mentioned this to new designers and SEOs at least a 100 times in the past few months. Now you can hear it directly from Matt Cutts mouth. Google just does not place weight on keyword meta tags unless it is a refined search. I would love if it was different, but it is not.

So, should you still add the Keywords Meta Tag?

Yes, you should. The keyword analysis process and placement of keywords in the meta tags is important to your learning and ranking process. Additionally, other search engines do use the Keywords Meta Tag , therefore you still need to add them correctly.

This blog post is a reply to your questions and a message to those who have not been “plugging in” to the support and resources available. I do not mind helping anyone accomplish their goals, though some of the answers that you need are already available. I recently did an interview that played on Orange Leads and this Lea Charlton blog for quite a while. Our “Teamwork” team  posts information all over the internet on a daily basis … even at the Skype group. Check those locations as often as you can.

FIRST QUESTION & ANSWER: THE PAYER PLAYER

I’m a little confused about the player… On the website, when I go to earned commissions it says -0- but when I click on the icon by my clock and sign in it says i’ve earned $4.55.

Yes, we are in a beta launch and have been discussing any inconsistencies with The Payer Player. They are working hard to finalize the Admin features for their Phase 1 plans. This has included adjustments to the My Community and Payout modules. This is why we are seeing these details come together over the past few days.  From day one, Rocky has assured me that they can see everything on their side.

I always recommend that you send a Support Ticket with the details, so that they are double checking per your results .

When I look at my Community, it says that you have zero personally referred. This means that you will get paid that stated amount when you have personally referred and paid Players in your Community per what the top of my previous Payer Player Blog Post explains.

You have the potential to earn much more. You just have to 1) ask people that are close to you whether they are interested in helping you build your Payer Player or not and 2) define your first market and cater your ads, blogs and networks toward their potential interest.

SECOND QUESTION: INTERNET MARKETING QUESTIONS ANSWER

Lea,What are you doing to get those kind of numbers, safelists,PPC or what? This is where I have always had a challenge, I see people hitting high numbers of signups and can never get a straight answer as to how they did it “step by step”. Does it require a lot of advertising money to have effective campaigns? I have asked previous sponsors for a DMO (daily mode of operation) but without much reply.

No, I am extremely frugal in that respect. I would rather put in the “sweat equity”, “Contributional Markting” and “Teamwork”.  You will not read many posts where I tell people to spend money. Most ad services have a free and paid facet. Unless someone says they have the budget to advertise like that because they want to or need to make money more quickly then … yes, they can use paid advertising. I also do not tell people how much money they will make. I have used my test amounts as example with explanation of whether that amount was generated passively or through more aggressive marketing efforts.

First of all, as I explained when we connected at Skype, you can contact me for “real time” assistance at Skype. If I am not available at a particular time, then I ask someone – right then and there – to help you until I am off the phone or whatever. I am also available by phone . We may need to schedule depending on what is convenient for both of us, and I work with a team that will also help you. Some have specific strengths where it benefits you more to connect with them – like building computers / handling computer issues – video creation – graphic arts – etc.

Many come into marketing thinking it is just about advertising, so it takes a while for some to grasp additional concepts. I was like this, as well, and sometimes still do get excited enough to use advertising alone. It is really just a band aid when done alone. You need to market correctly for better conversions, associations and to automate your efforts.

The motive is to always strive to learn more and share what you have learned.

No matter how many years I have been in this industry, I am always learning daily – this is intentional – also people will just stop me and share if they see that I need to learn a concept or with general info.

Sometimes, I just stop what I have been doing and  just watch what people are doing for a while.  It drives me crazy because I like to “do do do”, but sometimes we have to slow down to watch successful people, learn and implement.

I have thousands of digital products and books that I skimmed and sat until I was ready to read them and apply.

This is why I touched base with you yesterday.

We have been providing you with the information that you need for months. We have been sharing freely in Orange Leads (status posts, public chat, convention centers and ads). You recently joined the Skype group and have not been there. We also interact by Skype and Networks on a daily basis. Some is written down step by step in those areas. You probably have a wealth of resources that you bought over the past few months that have that information for you. People are blogging step by step strategies in entirety and in phases.

BASIC ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Many totally overlook that social networks and what the “new gurus” call “attraction marketing” (which is really just good positioning, providing value and good old fashioned networking) will take us a lot further than all the free classifieds and Pay to Clicks in the word. (Meanwhile, the new classified site that Timothy L Drobnick Sr is working on will probably make me put my foot in my mouth (a bit) on that last statement – LOL). 

REGARDLESS, THE CONCEPTS MENTIONED HERE ARE:

1) Positioning

This is ambiguous to me. EX: I am positioned at one of the best business social networks on the Internet – Orange Leads – VS – I am positioned on the first page of Google for the words “payer player” and “the payer player”. I am “positioned” with good teams. My marketing is positioned for a change over. (I will do a training on this ASAP)

2) Providing Value

Again, this is ambiguous. For some people, it involes getting their ad “out there”. This means they are marketing however they can “reach” people “on their level” because they know a specific program works. For another this could infer specific products or services – paid or  free – in order to build a connection with people that fit the parameters of who they want to work with or attract.

One of my “values” has been to invest in people. I know that the “new gurus” and business recruiters say differently, but this is something that is working for others and me. Taking the time for others and teaching them is invaluable.  I almost demanding this from everyone that I work closely with (mentor) even if it is to personally train their referrals.

We all love to have experienced “builders” and believe you me, I do attract people that want to work together in that capacity  and innovative business owners, but there is just as much value in taking the time to bring someone to the point that they are accomplishing their goals. This falls into place with our “Teamwork Makes The Dream Work” and what I have experienced via connections with “Ubiee” and “Peel Inc”.

What a lot of PEOPLE OVERLOOK is another one of his other most popular quotes:

~ What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. ~

Means to me … that having 3000+ personal referrals is both “good” and “bad” depending on what is achieved by “team effort” or not; “good” or “bad” depending on whether I walk in humility, position, provide value and they are happy with their individual development because they are accomplishing their goals. Either way, I am developing me, though not a success if we are not benefiting together.

Therefore, my saying that “I want to be the best” (per say) is only accomplished IF YOU want to “be the best” and then we are working towards that commitment to one another and our goals together. No matter the same business or not. Commitment & Goals are the key concepts here.

THIS IS WHY MY ORIGINAL MESSAGE TO YOU WAS TO REMIND YOU TO “CONNECT” WITH ME, OUR SKYPE GROUP OR SOMEONE ON OUR TEAM …

Ideally, you want to do all. You get the cliff notes on what you are trying to figure out. If someone pops in with a link, comment, advise, etc. there is value there for you to take and run with it or ask until you can. If you are stuck at any given time, there is support. If you want to learn alone, there is a resource to help you – in our case numerous resources – plus one on one support (sometimes flexibility is needed per schedules).

Yesterday, we had a last minute training which was really addressing what was holding a few people back from getting started and / or having results in a particular program. In this case, one was having technical issues that took my partner 6 hours to help them resolve. Another just needed me to navigate her to where she needed to start. The other had health issues and needed to catch up. Etc. Etc. Etc. The point is that we were all at the same place … at the same time … got much accomplished.

3) Good Old Fashioned Networking

“teamwork”

“cut from the same cloth”

“partnering”

“meetups”

“associations”

“online friends”

“consultants”

How ever you want to say it, teach it or think it, nothing beats good old fashioned networking; not even video marketing.

When it all comes down to it, it is “people helping people” that is “what makes this world go round”.

Unless I found a program on impulse and see it as a potential for all, I am more likely to join a friend, associate or team member in a particular business or program. The same goes for tools and resources. I want to work with people that have similar – ideally the same – goals and values that I have. I want to meet and partner with others that contribute to and expand those for my team, friends, associates and me.

Most of us are moving TOO quickly opposed to SO quickly in this industry. Mostly because they want or need to make money as quickly as possible, though it is these attributes, expectations and friendships are what help me the most (I am saying “me” because you asked what has been working best for me). I have only been back in home business for less than a year. It feels as though I never left it for all of these years. This is because of the awesome people that I watched, shared with and learned from during this time, as well as the individual development that I intentionally set out to accomplish in order to work towards my goals. This began over 15 years ago for me – 10 years ago in regard to Internet marketing .  That is a long time to most who were more teachable than I was and / or remained in the industry all of this time.

Regardless, It has been a phenomenal year.

IN CONCLUSION,  I HAVE TO REFER BACK TO THAT “GETTING STARTED” PAGE ON MY ABCPROFESSOR.COM WEBSITE.

There is a statement that says: “The home business industry and the wonderful World Wide Web can bring any one of us to our knees if not careful. This happens every day!” There is obviously “good” and “bad” in this reality. That statement refers to the bad in an attempt to save people time because as I have explained, it has been many many many years of learning for my.

The plus is that my long learning process is now “cliff notes” for others.

Whether they are a initially that “teachable / coachable person” that we are conditioned to target or not. I DO NOT MEAN that you should KILL or ABUSE yourself to help others more than they are willing to help themselves, but part of that “interview script” must get put into action from the start because sometimes people just join you in a particular business without your inviting them. This is wonderful in most cases, though you can get people that have been used to “standing in their own way” for quite a while. In that case, you extend yourself. In some cases, you just cannot work with them at that time. There have been times that I have even paid my “partners” to help others that did not want to just … “follow instructions”.  I know exactly how it goes because I stood in my own way – on and off – many times. Regardless, this is business. The “bottom line” is the filter of how much you can extend yourself or not.

People were very kind to me.

This home busines industry or Internet marketing industry is not for everyone, though my reality says that it can be for most depending on how much they want to succeed. Some will “buck up”. Others will passively progress. Many just quit. Some will go broke. Some will make money. Some will get rich. Some will “succeed”. Some will fail. Some will strive to maintain.

The point is that being brought to your knees is “good” and “bad”.

It just depends on whether you learn or not, and what you do from there.
